Marked And Cut

It's amazing how quickly the material gets gobbled up when you are making a full body suit for someone that is 6' tall and a touch over 210 lbs!

All the Grey pieces are now cut. I don't know why I always get so nerved up before making the first cut into a large piece of fabric, that is what I bought it for after all.

This is Relic's body suit in all it's individual pieces save for the white, which I will cut and add in after getting it all fitted and the bulk of the sewing finished. I can hardly wait to try it on.

Slow Down!

No not you ... ME!

I have to get serious about Relic's fursuit and as a result I am sure the Blog will take a serious hit.  There is a lot of work I must get finished before I can even think about getting the fur cut. I need to alter the Pattern and make sure that I DO NOT mess it up in the process. It will take concentration and my full attention, so if I lag behind keeping posts going, you have been warned. As soon as I get the alteration finished to my liking I will post up what I have before cutting into the fur.  Be Furry my friends~

The Axe Is Finished

Relic's axe is now finished Painted and finished with 8 layers of clear-coat I feel it is totally convincing enough.

GOT THE AXE!

Home from Tupper Lake.

Now for some painting. Bright Red, Silver, and lots of clear-coat!
It's made from spruce so it is very light, and I still have to figure out a way to fasten it to Relic's side when he is not actually carrying it in his paws, not sure a hammer holster will work.

Relic's GOT THE FUR!

Got a great deal!

Been super busy the last few weeks with the trip to Chicago and all, then sub driving in Franklin County. I finally found a good match for Relic to continue on with the making of his full fursuit! Joann-Fabrics had a 30% sale on all plush furs, along with a text coupon I had for 20% off my purchase the price was right at only $138.00.

I bought 4 yards of the Grey/Brown and 2 yards of the White. Although the Grey/Brown is not an exact match with the original material I had it picks up on all the colors involved, so, it will work just fine. I have some tricks that will help meld it all together as well.

There is going to be a whole lot of sewing to do once I get my pattern customized, I'm not really looking forward to that part
but ... it will be awesome when its finished and I put it on
for the first time!
This will put Relic one step closer to Anthrocon next year!

Great Time In Chicago

It was great to introduce Relic to my old friends in Union, Il. I should have gotten into character, but as it turned out Peyton (the Dachshund) seemed to think Relic was a furry toy. Just didn't want to risk being chewed up. ;P lol

It is only about a 12 1/2 hour trip, will have to go again sometime and center the trip more around my friends rather than going into the city to see the sights.  Hopefully they can make a trip to the Seaway / Adirondack Region in the next few years as well.
